Volvo Trucks Global Electric Range Named International Truck of the Year 2027
Validating heavy-duty battery-electric fleet performance across global operations, Volvo Trucks' electric vehicle lineup secures the International Truck of the Year 2027 award.
Volvo Trucks' global heavy-duty electric lineup has been awarded International Truck of the Year 2027 at the IAA Transportation event in Hanover, Germany. The recognition highlights the engineering advances of the updated FH, FM, and FMX Electric platforms, including the FH Aero Electric model featuring extended operating ranges of up to 700 kilometers (435 miles) on a single charge alongside reduced charging times.
For commercial fleet directors, logistics executives, and heavy-vehicle buyers, the award confirms the expansion of battery-electric platforms from niche applications into scalable regional transport solutions.
According to Volvo Trucks North America leadership, the manufacturer's global electric truck initiative relies on operational data from more than 7,000 electric trucks logging over 500 million kilometers worldwide. Across North American operations, more than 750 VNR Electric units are currently deployed, supported by an expanding network of 84 certified EV dealership locations handling charging infrastructure, route analysis, and specialized vehicle maintenance.
