Yokohama Expands 716U Ultra-Wide-Base Lineup with New Size
Maximizing axle payload capacity in severe-service applications, Yokohama introduces the 445/50R22.5 size for its 716U ultra-wide-base tire.
Yokohama Tire has expanded its 716U ultra-wide-base (UWB) commercial tire line with the addition of the 445/50R22.5 fitment (Load Range LR / 20-ply rating). Joining the existing 455/55R22.5 size (Load Range LM / 22-ply rating), the heavy-duty tire is engineered for waste, recycling, and severe-service on/off-road operations where maximizing vehicle payload efficiency is critical.
For waste management fleet managers, commercial tire dealers, and heavy-vehicle maintenance directors, transitioning to ultra-wide-base configurations reduces overall vehicle weight to optimize payload volume under strict axle-weight regulations.
According to Yokohama, the tread architecture features zig-zag circumferential grooves to maintain wet-weather traction alongside an advanced rubber compound engineered to resist scrubbing, cutting, and chipping under high-torsion severe-service conditions.
