Castrol Lubricant Extends Drain Intervals to 100,000 Miles
Castrol’s updated Vecton 15W-40 lubricant extends oil drain intervals to 100,000 miles to help commercial fleet operators cut shop downtime and maintenance costs.
Castrol has introduced its Vecton Long Drain 15W-40 CK-4/SQ/NG commercial engine oil, engineered as a multi-fuel lubricant compatible with diesel, natural gas, and gasoline powertrains. Formulated with DuraPro Enhanced Technology, the fluid aims to streamline inventory management and maintenance routines for operators running mixed-fuel commercial fleets.
From an operational standpoint, the lubricant extends maximum diesel oil drain intervals up to 100,000 miles (approximately 160,000 kilometers)—a 25% increase over the previous 80,000-mile limit. For motor carriers and fleet managers, stretching interval windows reduces recurring service events, lowers fluid procurement requirements, and increases revenue-generating uptime by keeping trucks out of repair bays.
By consolidating engine oil inventory into a single product capable of servicing diverse powertrain types, commercial vehicle fleets can mitigate misapplication risks in the shop. For North American transport operators facing tight operating margins, extended drain capabilities directly support total cost of ownership (TCO) reduction across long-haul and regional duty cycles.
