Quebec’s Jean-Sébastien Houle Named Ryder’s 2026 Top Technician

Jean-Sébastien Houle of Boucherville, Quebec, has been named Ryder’s 2026 Top Technician, winning the $50,000 grand prize at the company’s 25th annual Top Tech Skills Competition.

Chosen from a workforce of approximately 5,000 commercial truck technicians across Canada and the United States, Houle advanced through written exams and regional hands-on trials to reach the ten-candidate championship in Nashville, Tennessee. Finalists were evaluated across ten timed skills stations covering advanced vehicle diagnostics, electrical systems, multiplexing, engine electronics, and aftertreatment systems.

Canadian technicians made a strong showing overall, with Cameron Hughes of Kitchener, Ontario, securing third place and a $10,000 cash prize alongside all other event finalists.

“Our technicians play a crucial role in delivering exceptional customer service and operational excellence across our fleet,” stated John Diez, Chief Executive Officer of Ryder. “Congratulations to Jean-Sébastien on earning the 2026 Top Tech title.”

For Canadian commercial fleet managers and heavy-duty shop directors, the achievement highlights the depth of technical expertise within Canada's commercial vehicle maintenance sector.
