2025 Toyota Crown Signia
Capable and comfortable, the 2025 Toyota Crown Signia replaced the Toyota Venza in the brand’s lineup. This mid-size two-row hybrid SUV/crossover comes in one well-equipped trim (and one available package) with standard electronic on-demand all-wheel drive and exceptional fuel economy numbers.
Based on the Crown sedan, which Toyota introduced in 2023, the Crown Signia has more ground clearance, more cargo room, and a different powertrain configuration than its sedan sibling.
Fuel economy is one of the Signia’s most impressive features. Toyota’s hybrid powertrain has been engineered to pump out 240 hp while delivering a combined fuel economy of 6.2 L/100km, according to NRCan. We drove the Crown Signia for a week and managed to do even better than advertised: 5.3 L/100km. That’s truly impressive for a roomy all-wheel-drive SUV/crossover with that much available power on tap.
Built for comfort
Even though the Crown Signia packs a punch with its 240-hp powertrain, it’s not the kind of vehicle you’d probably feel compelled to toss into corners. It’s quick enough for more aggressive highway maneuvers, but this mid-size SUV/crossover was designed for comfort and quiet, rather than pulse-pounding excitement.
This fact is obvious the moment you sit inside the Crown Signia. The passenger cabin is quiet and refined, with a whole host of creature comforts and higher-end features. It’s also roomy and refined, with exceptional rear-seat legroom.
The Crown Signia Limited—the only trim available—includes a long menu of desirable standard features including heated and ventilated power-adjustable front passenger and driver’s seats, heated rear seats, leather seats, a heatedleather-wrapped steering wheel, and an 11-speaker JBL audio system, to name but a few of the many perks.
It’s also packed with must-have technologies, including a 12.3-inch multimedia screen, a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto, five USB charging ports, and a wireless device charger. Dual-zone climate control is also standard equipment, as is a panoramic sunroof, headlamp washers, a rear camera washer, a windshield wiper deicer, rain-sensing wipers, and more.
Safety & Security
Toyota takes safety very seriously, which is why the Crown Signia comes with an array of safety technologies, including Toyota Safety Sense 3.0—a collection of key technologies: automatic high beams, lane tracing assist, lane departure alert, dynamic cruise control, road sign assist, a pre-collision system and proactive driving assist.
The brand’s Star Safety System is also standard and includes smart stop technology, vehicle stability control, ABS, traction control, electronic brake force distribution and brake assist.
If you upgrade to the Advanced Technology Package (a $2,075 option), you also get cross traffic alert, lane change assist, traffic jam assist, intuitive parking assist with auto braking, a 360-degree camera, a driver monitor camera, reverse auto tilt mirrors and puddle lamps.
The Crown Signia has been recognized with a Top Safety Pick rating by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), and it gets a five/five star rating in both the frontal crash and side crash tests conducted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
Toyota calls the Crown Signia “a sanctuary on the road,” and we would have to agree. Engineered to be quiet and to insulate occupants from the harshness of the outside world, including bumpy roads, this mid-size SUV/crossover makes the daily commute, as well as longer road trips, a relaxing and refined experience.
