Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV repeats as Canada’s best-selling plug-in hybrid vehicle

Mitsubishi Motor Sales of Canada reported total vehicle sales of 37,335 units in Canada in the 2025 calendar year, marking the brand’s second-best sales year on record.

Though 2025 was a year of challenges and change for the Canadian automotive industry, Mitsubishi Motors remained steady in Canada and closed the year with a slight 4% decline in Total Sales compared to the previous year, while still recording notable results across its lineup.

The Outlander led the brand’s performance with total sales of 12,688 units, representing a 40.9% increase year-over-year and marking its best year on record in Canada. Outlander PHEV followed with total sales of 8,899 units in CY2025 – allowing it to repeat as Canada’s best selling plug-in hybrid vehicle for the third-straight year.

RVR contributed 8,042 units to the brand’s overall results. Eclipse Cross also delivered growth in 2025, posting total sales of 5,930 units, an increase of 12.1% compared to the previous year and its strongest calendar-year result to date. Sales of Mirage totaled 1,776 units as the model
reached the end of its lifecycle in the Canadian market.

Mitsubishi Motor Sales of Canada is continuing its momentum as it kicks off 2026 with the the unveiling of the refreshed 2026 Outlander PHEV next week in Montreal. Later this year, the Japanese brand will introduce a new battery electric vehicle to the Canadian market, marking
the next phase of the brand’s product and electrification strategy in Canada.
