Review: 2025 Lincoln Aviator
A sanctuary on wheels.
Years ago, Lincoln sedans were the go-to vehicle for a variety of fleet and business applications. Today, however, Lincoln no longer sells sedans. Instead, they offer four SUVs—the Navigator, Aviator, Nautilus and Corsair.
If you’re shopping for a modern-day replacement for the beloved Lincoln sedan of yesteryear, then the Aviator is a worthy contender. With a luxurious interior, room for six or seven, ample cargo space, and a potent twin-turbo engine, the Aviator ticks many of the boxes fleet professionals are looking for in a luxury SUV.
Gentle refresh
The Aviator benefits from a few styling updates for the 2025 model year, including a redesigned grille and headlamps. Inside, a new 13.2-inch infotainment touchscreen and a 12.4-inch digital gauge cluster are now par for the course.
The interior is spacious and comfortable, and first- and second-row passengers get ample leg room and head room. The third row, on the other hand, is really designed for children—not for adults embarking on a longer journey. Still, it’s nice to have the extra seating there, just in case it’s needed.
Cargo capacity is decent, with 2,149/1,131/466 L of space behind the first/second/third row.
For 2025, Lincoln is offering the Aviator in two trims here in Canada: Premiere and Reserve. While amenities and features vary, both trims get all-wheel drive, and the same excellent twin-turbocharged 3.0L V6 that puts out 400 horsepower @ 5,500 rpm, and 415 lb-ft of torque at 3,000 rpm.
According to Natural Resources Canada (NRCan), the Aviator consumes 13.8/9.5/11.9 L/100 km (city/hwy/combined). We managed to squeeze 12.2 L/100 km (combined) out of our tester.
Well equipped
The Aviator comes well equipped with a long list of standard features, including a 360-degree camera, active noise control, active noice cancellation, a head-up display, and a comprehensive list of advanced driver assistance systems.
Creature comforts abound, including standard equipment like a heated steering wheel, a panoramic sunroof, remote start, a wireless charging pad, tri-zone climate control, eight USB charging port, power 10-way driver and power 8-way passenger seat with lumbar support, heated and ventilated front seats, heated second-row seats, and much more.
Lincoln BlueCruise is also standard equipment. This technology, available on Ford and Lincoln vehicles, allows you to operate the Aviator hands-free on many highways in the U.S. and Canada. The updated version of BlueCruise includes key features like Lane Change Assist (change lanes hands-free on the highway) and In-Lane Repositioning (the vehicle shifts position within the lane to create a bit more breathing room between itself and nearby vehicles in adjoining lanes).
Oasis of tranquility
For executives on the go who need a respite from the hustle and bustle of the day, the Aviator serves as an oasis of peace and tranquility. The interior is wonderfully quiet, isolating occupants from the harsh sounds of the world outside. The cabin is welcoming and luxurious, and the suspension excels at absorbing road irregularities, which results in a truly pleasant and relaxing ride.
Standard equipment includes the Lincoln Drive Modes system. As the name suggests, with the turn of a dial, the driver can fine tune the suspension settings, steering feel, transmission shifts points, throttle response and ride height to best suit their mood or the road conditions. So whether you want maximum comfort, maximum performance, maximum safety on icy roads, or maximum fuel-efficiency, Lincoln Drive Modes allows you to change the driving dynamics with the twist of a dial.
If a roomy and luxurious interior is paramount, along with a relaxing ride, a wonderfully-satisfying powertrain, and loads of advanced features and creature comforts, then the Lincoln Aviator is a must on your Executive Fleet Selector.
