Toronto’s Element Partners with Waymo

Element Fleet Management has announced a multi-year strategic partnership with autonomous driving technology leader Waymo to support the large-scale deployment and logistical operation of its autonomous vehicle (AV) fleets.

Managed through Element Mobility, the collaboration will launch initial operations in San Diego, California, with plans to scale into additional ride-hailing markets over time.

Under the terms of the agreement, the Toronto-based fleet manager will oversee total vehicle lifecycle management, maintenance coordination, charging infrastructure, energy optimization, and real-time fleet readiness. Waymo will remain responsible for the validation and performance of the autonomous Waymo Driver software platform alongside its consumer-facing ride-hailing application.

"Autonomous mobility succeeds through operational intelligence, disciplined execution, and the ability to perform reliably across markets," stated David Madrigal, Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer at Element Fleet Management.

This corporate integration underscores a growing trend where advanced technology developers rely on established fleet management infrastructure to handle localized vehicle upkeep and heavy-duty operational demands.
