Isuzu Motors and Volvo Group Strengthen Strategic Alliance to Develop Medium Heavy-Duty Truck Platform for Asian Markets

Isuzu Motors and the Volvo Group have signed a new strategic agreement to jointly develop a next-generation platform for medium heavy-duty trucks, aimed at the Japanese and wider Asian markets. This initiative will leverage Volvo Group’s technology and build upon the strategic partnership framework originally signed in October 2020.

The collaboration, set for a minimum of 20 years, is designed to address evolving logistics industry needs by maximizing value for both customers and society. As part of the deal, Volvo Group will continue supplying critical components, including powertrains, and will provide technical support in development and quality assurance. The joint effort will also focus on enhancing customer support systems to ensure a smooth and successful market rollout.

“This agreement represents a new chapter in our trusted partnership with Volvo Group. By combining our technical strengths, we are shaping the future of medium-duty transportation in Asia while reinforcing the reliability and sustainability of our products,” said Masanori Katayama, Chairman & CEO of Isuzu Motors.

Martin Lundstedt, President & CEO of the Volvo Group, added: “This is a true win-win. By sharing technology and resources, we increase industrial efficiency and create long-term customer value, while also strengthening our competitiveness in the Asian market.”

This renewed alliance will enable both companies to capitalize on their complementary strengths, build scale, and deliver innovative solutions for the future of transportation.
