Heavy Equipment Association Urges Swift Resolution
Associated Equipment Distributors (AED) has submitted formal letters to U.S. President Donald Trump, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, and Canada-U.S. Trade Minister Dominic LeBlanc, calling for an immediate resolution to ongoing trade friction and tariffs impacting the heavy equipment industry.
As the largest dual-nation trade association representing construction, agricultural, mining, forestry, and commercial transportation equipment networks, AED advocates on behalf of 7,200 dealer locations generating over $100 billion in annual revenue across North America.
The association emphasizes that ongoing tariff uncertainty directly impedes machinery distribution, inflates capital equipment costs, and strains cross-border supply chains for service parts and manufacturing components.
“AED members supply and service the equipment needed to feed, fuel, and build North America,” stated AED President and CEO Brian P. McGuire. “We will continue advocating in both Washington and Ottawa for free and fair trade that provides the certainty equipment dealers and manufacturers need to invest and grow.”
For Canadian heavy machinery dealerships, commercial fleet directors, and infrastructure contractors, AED’s lobbying efforts target stabilizing vehicle acquisition costs and securing unhindered access to cross-border machinery parts networks.
