NAFA Names Top Sustainable Fleets at 2026 Green Fleet Awards

Highlighting alternative fuel adoption, facility efficiency, and telematics leadership, the NAFA Fleet Management Association recognizes top-performing sustainable fleets across North America.

The NAFA Fleet Management Association announced the winners of its 2026 Green Fleet Awards during the Sustainable Fleet Technology Conference & Expo in Durham, North Carolina. The City of Long Beach, California, earned the top ranking as the #1 Green Fleet of 2026 for its comprehensive sustainable fleet transition.

For commercial and public fleet managers, the annual awards evaluate measurable performance indicators including fuel reduction, fleet composition, technology deployment, and workplace culture. NAFA CEO Bill Schankel noted that the awarded fleets provide actionable benchmarks for operators working to balance environmental goals with daily operational demands.

  • Best Green Garage Facilities: Santa Clara County, CA
  • Best Alternative Fuel Integration: District of Columbia Department of Public Works
  • Best Fleet Internal Green Culture: City of Chesapeake, VA
  • Best Problem-Solving Fleet: Harris County, TX
  • Best Technology Leadership Initiatives: City of Fort Lauderdale, FL

NAFA will host a two-part educational webinar series on October 30 and November 6 featuring detailed case studies from the winning fleet operators.
