Volvo Expands Heavy-Haul Segment with New VNX

Targeting growing infrastructure projects across North America, Volvo Trucks will unveil its next-generation Class 8 vocational VNX platform on October 14.

Volvo Trucks North America has announced the digital debut of its all-new Volvo VNX series, engineered for heavy-haul, construction, and infrastructure applications. The launch represents the manufacturer's most direct expansion into the North American vocational truck segment to date.

For fleet managers, civil engineering contractors, and heavy-equipment operators, the lineup addresses surging vehicle demand driven by regional infrastructure investments. According to construction research firm FMI, power generation construction spending is projected to expand nearly 10 percent annually through 2030, increasing requirements for durable severe-duty chassis.

Volvo states the platform leverages cross-segment engineering from its Volvo Construction Equipment division, which has supplied heavy machinery to North American job sites for over five decades. The company reports the chassis will incorporate advanced active and passive safety architecture tailored for jobsite hazards, restricted sightlines, and high-foot-traffic working zones.

According to Volvo Trucks North America leadership, the VNX series was designed from the ground up to improve uptime performance under extreme operating conditions. Technical specifications, powertrain options, and frame configurations will be released during the October 14 live-stream event.
