2025 / 2026 Porsche Macan Electric

While some carmakers embrace futuristic designs that set their EVs apart from the ICE vehicles in their lineup, other manufacturers prefer a more subtle and conservative approach that doesn’t shout, “Hey! This is an electric vehicle!”

The Porsche Macan Electric definitely falls into the latter category. Muscular and athletic, the Macan Electric looks much like its ICE sibling, inside and out. Besides the fact that the Electric is missing a grille, and has a somewhat different dash and centre console design, it doesn’t stand out as overly futuristic or odd, and for many drivers that’s a good thing.

Multiple flavours

The Macan Electric family is growing, and Porsche recently announced that the Macan GTS will be added to their electric lineup for the 2026 model year. This means that EV fans can buy an all-electric Macan in no less than five distinct flavours: 355-hp Macan Electric, 402-hp Macan 4 Electric, 509-hp Macan 4S Electric, 563-hp Macan GTS Electric and 630-hp Macan Turbo Electric.

We had the opportunity to drive the Macan 4S Electric earlier this year and were delighted with the power, performance and handling. With 509 hp on tap, and 605 lb.-ft. of instant torque it’s incredibly quick, and wonderfully nimble. We made the mistake of stomping on the accelerator in order to get through an amber light before it turned red, and were both thrilled and a bit terrified by how quickly and effortlessly it flew through the intersection.

We can only imagine what the new (and more powerful) 2026 GTS model will feel like. They say that, "with great power comes great responsibility.” In this case, Macan Electric drivers also need great self-discipline and great self-control in order to tame all the available horsepower.

Inviting interior

Recently, we’ve seen a trend where some manufacturers create futuristic interiors for their EVs. Large tablet-like displays are the focal point, and some interiors can feel overly minimalistic. Porsche, however, took a more conservative approach with the Macan Electric, resulting in an inviting interior that looks much like what you’d see inside the ICE Macan.

The passenger cabin is thoroughly modern with a nice balance of digital displays, physical knobs and buttons. While there is a screen, it’s not oversized, and it isn’t the centrepiece, attracting all attention.

The only part of the interior that takes a bit of getting used to is the climate control panel: Whenever you click an individual icon, the entire panel (rather than just the icon itself) depresses to activate the function, which feels a bit odd until you understand that this is what’s supposed to happen.

Well-appointed, all Macan Electric models come with a long list of standard features. Some of the more notable creature comforts include heated eight-way adjustable electric front seats, a heated steering wheel, a panoramic roof, an adaptive air suspension with levelling system and height adjustment (five ride height positions), two-zone climate control, a smartphone compartment with wireless charging, and a 10-speaker sound system.

Advanced tech

All Macan Electric models come with key safety technologies including park assist, traffic sign recognition, lane change assist, lane keep assist with emergency stop function (kicks in when the driver fails to respond, perhaps due to a health emergency), rear cross traffic alert, exit warning, intersection assist, adaptive cruise control, swerve and turn assist (helps the driver steer around an obstacle on the road), driver awareness detection, and much more.

Porsche Connect is included for 10 years, giving drivers access to convenience and entertainment features, while the My Porsche App allows drivers to remotely manage vehicle functions with a smartphone. Another notable feature: The Porsche Digital Key turns any iPhone, Apple Watch or compatible Android device into a digital vehicle key.

If your idea of an electric executive fleet vehicle is something sporty, athletic, high-tech and packed with safety features, then any of the Macan Electric models would be worth a closer look. All you have to decide is how much horsepower you can handle.
