Samsara Earns Highway Certification to Combat Cargo Fraud
Samsara’s Highway certification sets data integrity standards for electronic logging devices to help brokers prevent identity theft and fraudulent re-brokering.
IoT and telematics provider Samsara has become the first electronic logging device (ELD) vendor to join Highway’s Certified Network. The certification establishes verified operational benchmarks for data accuracy, transmission speed, and hardware integrity across commercial vehicle fleets.
For Canadian motor carriers, cross-border fleets, and freight brokerages, cargo theft and carrier identity fraud represent growing operational supply chain risks. By integrating authenticated vehicle identifiers (VINs) and real-time GPS location streams directly into broker vetting platforms, the certified connection confirms that assigned equipment physically matches credentialing documentation prior to load dispatch.
According to the technology vendor, standardizing telematics data verification eliminates falsified location reporting and reduces unauthorized double-brokering schemes. Establishing traceable data origin across ELD hardware protects shipper liabilities while accelerating carrier verification processes for compliant fleets.
