BFGoodrich Launches Winter-Certified Trail-Terrain T/A+ Tire
BFGoodrich Tires has formally introduced the Trail-Terrain T/A+ tire to the Canadian automotive market, balancing off-road inspired styling and weekend capability with the daily on-road comfort and longevity commercial and retail drivers require. Designed specifically for light trucks, SUVs, and crossovers (CUVs) that operate primarily on paved surfaces with occasional excursions onto unpaved trails, this versatile product launch directly serves the high-volume Canadian multi-season tire segment.
A critical indicator for regional tire distributors and automotive service facilities is the tire's Three-Peak Mountain Snowflake (3PMSF) rating, confirming legal winter compliance across Canadian provinces. Engineered with an advanced all-weather tread compound infused with high levels of silica, the Trail-Terrain T/A+ delivers a 10% improvement in wet traction compared to the original, first-generation design.
To combat premature wear on heavier modern vehicles, the tire features an optimized footprint shape designed to distribute stress evenly, paired with full-depth locking 3D sipes that stabilize the tread blocks to boost overall wear performance by up to 25%.
“The new Trail-Terrain T/A+ tire is for those everyday adventurers, helping enhance the look and performance of consumers’ vehicles whether they’re driving across town or taking a trip into the great outdoors,” stated Jamie Hershey, Senior Director of Recreational Brands for BFGoodrich Tires. Operating enhancements include a 5% average improvement in rolling resistance to optimize fuel economy and electric vehicle battery range, alongside an engineered tread pattern designed for quiet highway performance.
Backed by a competitive 105,000-kilometer treadwear warranty, the tire has been selected as original equipment for the upcoming 2026 Rivian R2, while a total of 50 replacement sizes ranging from 17 to 22 inches are rolling out to Canadian retailers through a scheduled line extension strategy.
