Canada, the Wait is Over: 5.7-Litre HEMI® V8 Now Available to Order on 2026 Ram 1500
The HEMI-powered Ram 1500 is back with a roar in Canada. Starting today, Canadian full-size truck buyers can check the box to again equip their 2026 Ram 1500 with the legendary 5.7-litre HEMI V8 with eTorque mild hybrid technology.
HEMI-equipped 2026 Ram 1500 models have a starting price of $68,185 ($65,490 MSRP plus $2,595 destination and additional fees) and are available for order now.
Back by popular demand, the return of the HEMI engine underlines Ram's commitment to offering Canadian truck buyers the freedom to choose the right engine for their needs and expands the 2026 model year Ram 1500 lineup to four powertrain options.

The six-time Wards ’10 Best Engines” winner returns to the Ram 1500 (DT) lineup, delivering legendary performance and efficiency. Available on Crew Cab models with 5’7” bed configurations, the 5.7L HEMI V8 delivers 395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque enhanced with eTorque hybrid technology.
The eTorque mild hybrid system replaces the traditional engine-mounted alternator with a belt-driven motor generator unit. The motor works with the 48-volt battery pack to provide quick and seamless engine start/stop operation, while enabling up to 130 lb.-ft. of supplemental torque.
Fuel Saver cylinder deactivation works by deactivating four of the engine's eight cylinders under light-load conditions to improve fuel efficiency. To top it off, the 5.7-litre HEMI V8 comes standard with the G/T performance exhaust, adding additional attitude.

Intelligent eTorque Integration
The eTorque hybrid system stores energy in a compact, 430-watt-hour lithium-ion battery, housed in a noise-insulated enclosure behind the rear seat. Air-cooled and internally vented, the system uses dual cooling fans to maintain optimal battery temperatures while remaining acoustically transparent to passengers.
A 3-kilowatt DC-to-DC converter steps down the 48 volts to charge the truck’s conventional 12-volt battery and power accessories. The 5.7-liter HEMI V-8 retains a traditional starter motor for cold-weather starts.
eTorque’s benefits extend beyond start/stop. It enhances shifts, improves fuel-saving cylinder deactivation and smooths transitions under acceleration and braking, helping reduce noise, vibration and harshness (NVH).
The HEMI option, which comes equipped with four-wheel-drive as standard in Canada, offers a towing capacity of up to 4,613 kg (10,170 lb) and a maximum payload capacity of 748 kg (1,650 lb) (SAE J2807).
