Kia Canada Locks in Disruptive Pricing Matrix for All-New 2027 PV5 Cargo Van

Targeting the high-growth commercial last-mile delivery and urban logistics corridors, Kia Canada has announced official pricing and technical configurations for its first dedicated electric commercial vehicle, the 2027 Kia PV5 Cargo.

Scheduled to arrive in regional commercial dealership bays during the fourth quarter of this year, the all-electric utility van secure a highly competitive Canadian base Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $46,995 CAD for the Basic trim, while the upgraded Plus trim lists at $49,095 CAD.

The strategic pricing strategy guarantees that all model variations fully qualify for the Canadian federal Incentives for Zero-Emission Vehicles (iZEV) program, providing fleet administrators with an immediate $5,000 CAD purchase rebate per asset.

Engineered on the manufacturer's proprietary "Platform Beyond Vehicle" (PBV) modular architecture, the Canadian-spec PV5 is standardly equipped with a high-capacity 71,2-kWh battery pack. To insulate real-world driving ranges against cold-weather degradation, a factory-installed heat pump comes standard across the lineup, delivering an estimated combined operational range of 360 kilometers.

The chassis features native North American Charging Standard (NACS) port architecture, facilitating direct fast-charging connections capable of replenishing the battery from 10 to 80 per cent in 30 minutes. Operational metrics include:

  • Cargo Volume Index: Approximately 5,016 liters (5.0 m3).
  • Maximum Payload Capacity: 1,631 lbs. (740 kg).
  • Wheelbase Dimension: 2,995 mm (optimizing tight turning radiuses within inner-city routes).
  • Ergonomic Access: A low rear step-in height of 419 mm paired with broad rear barn doors opening from 95 to 180 degrees to ease rapid loading cycles.

Active Safety Systems and Worksite V2L Power Export

The entry-level Basic trim targets total cost of ownership (TCO) reductions and vehicle downtime mitigation by standardizing advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). Standard safety features include Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist, Lane Keeping Assist, Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, and parking proximity sensors. The connected cockpit centers on a 12.9-inch infotainment monitor paired with Over-The-Air (OTA) software updates to limit routine maintenance facility service visits.

Stepping up to the Plus trim adds a Surround View Monitor, Blind-Spot View Monitor, and bidirection V2L (Vehicle-to-Load) power export integration. The active V2L system allows mobile service technicians and tradespeople to pull power directly from the traction battery to operate specialized field tools, tablets, and sorting hardware on-site.
