Toyota breaks new ground with its all-electric C-HR

Toyota Canada Inc. has announced Canadian availability for the 2027 Toyota C-HR, expanding its zero-emission lineup with an all-electric compact crossover starting at a base MSRP of $44,895.

Positioned as Toyota’s most accessible battery-electric vehicle in Canada, the 2027 C-HR is built on the e-TNGA architecture featuring a low-mounted 77-kWh lithium-ion battery pack. The vehicle is available in three distinct model grades across two powertrains :

  • SE FWD: Front-wheel-drive single motor producing 221 system horsepower with an estimated driving range of up to 496 kilometers.
  • XSE AWD & XSE Premium AWD: Dual-motor electronic all-wheel drive generating 338 system horsepower, delivering 0–100 km/h acceleration in 5.2 seconds and up to 452 kilometers of range (438 km on 20-inch wheels).

The C-HR features a native North American Charging System (NACS) port, enabling 10% to 80% DC fast-charging replenishment in roughly 30 minutes under optimal conditions. For added infrastructure flexibility, standard equipment now includes J1772 and CCS charging adapters.

“The C-HR is Toyota’s most affordable battery-electric vehicle, providing Canadians access to 21 electrified models across our portfolio,” stated Steve Pilkey, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Toyota Canada Inc.

For Canadian automotive retailers, fleet operators, and commercial managers, the C-HR adds a high-range, sub-$45K entry point into the urban EV crossover market.
