Kenworth Expands PACCAR TX-12 PRO and TX-18 PRO Automated Transmission Availability for Mixer Applications

Kenworth today announced its PACCAR TX-12 PRO and TX-18 PRO automated transmissions are now available for Kenworth’s T880 and W990 models equipped with PACCAR engines with a rear engine power take-off (REPTO). This expansion enables customers operating in select concrete mixer applications to now specify their Kenworth Class 8 trucks with PACCAR’s vocational automated transmissions, as well as other applications requiring a REPTO.

“The addition of rear engine PTO compatibility with our PACCAR TX-12 PRO and TX-18 PRO transmissions gives customers even more flexibility when spec’ing their Kenworth T880 and W990 models,” said Kevin Haygood, Kenworth’s assistant general manager for sales and marketing. “This expansion allows us to better serve vocational customers, particularly those in concrete mixer and other REPTO-driven applications, by delivering the performance, reliability, and integration they expect from Kenworth and PACCAR powertrain solutions.”

Both the PACCAR TX-12 PRO and TX-18 PRO automated transmissions are designed and engineered to work seamlessly with the PACCAR MX-11 and MX-13 engines, delivering fully integrated powertrain solutions optimized to maximize uptime.

The 12-speed TX-12 PRO is suited for on-highway and lighter vocational applications requiring smooth shifting and precise control. It is rated up to 1,700 lb.-ft. of torque and supports heavy-duty performance with advanced predictive shifting technology that adapts to road conditions and load.

The TX-18 PRO, designed for the most demanding vocational and heavy-haul applications, offers 18 forward speeds, six reverse speeds and exceptional durability for vehicles operating in challenging environments. With torque capacity up to 1,850 lb.-ft., the TX-18 PRO delivers robust performance and vocationally optimized gear selection for maximum traction and productivity on varied terrain.

Both transmissions feature PACCAR’s Extreme Duty clutch for enhanced low-speed maneuverability, Rock Free mode to aid trucks in getting unstuck in mud or sand, an off-highway calibration optimized for varying soil conditions, and more.

As with all PACCAR transmissions, TX-12 PRO and TX-18 PRO are standard with Kenworth’s driver-friendly column-mounted, right-hand shifter. The shifter places gear selection, performance calibration and engine brake controls at the driver’s fingertips for enhanced ergonomics, comfort, and overall performance.
