Kia’s Many Shades of Green

From EVs and hybrids to ICE and PHEVs, Kia offers an array of vehicles for a variety of fleet applications.

Kia unveiled the all-new 2026 EV4 sedan at the 2025 New York International Auto Show. Scheduled to arrive in Canadian dealerships in early 2026, Kia’s first all-electric sedan (globally) promises an impressive range of up to 531 km, and the ability to charge to 80% in as little as 30 minutes when hooked up to a DC fast-charger.

The fast-charging capabilities of the EV4, as well as the outstanding all-electric range, make it a viable option for fleet customers with ambitious electrification goals.

“The Kia EV4 breaks the rules of the traditional sedan with its edgy styling, advanced technology and spacious interior,” says David Sherrard, Director of Strategic Planning for Kia Canada. “We are continuing to shape the future of accessible EV ownership with the EV4 - a model that will compete in the largest car segment in Canada, providing a first EV affordable option for consumers in the compact sedan market.”

Kia plans to offer the EV4 with a standard range battery (378 km range) and a long range battery (482 or 531 km range, depending on trim). All standard range models will be front-wheel-drive, while long range models will be available in both front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive configurations.

The EV4 will be produced in South Korea, which means that it’s not going to be impacted by the current tariff war with America.

Innovative Technologies

One of the innovative technologies available on the EV4 is the V2L (Vehicle-to-Load) functionality, which will allow occupants to plug in their electronics, including laptop computers, right into the vehicle. Another notable innovation is Kia’s Digital Key 2.0, which allows the driver to lock and unlock doors or set climate controls remotely using a smartphone of mobile device.

Inside, the EV4 boasts a massive 30-inch screen display, which includes dual 12.3-inch screens and a five-inch climate control display. Connectivity and entertainment features can be upgraded remotely with over-the-air software updates.

Creature comforts include standard heated seats (ventilated front seats are available), dual-zone climate control, and an acoustic windshield that minimizes road and wind noise. Available features include a memory feature for the driver’s seat, and a heated steering wheel.

Kia Sportage

The Sportage has been part of the Kia brand since its Canadian launch in 1999, and continues to be a popular choice with both consumers and fleet customers. Available in ICE, hybrid (HEV) and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) versions, the Sportage offers exceptional fuel economy: 6.2 and 6.7 L/100 km combined for hybrid and PHEV models, respectively. In addition, PHEV models offer 55km of electric driving range, when fully charged.

The 2026 Sportage has undergone its most significant upgrade since the fifth-generation model launched three years ago.

In addition to a redesigned exterior and interior, the new Sportage benefits from technology upgrades, including Kia’s Connected Car Navigation Cockpit with a standard curved 12.3-inch touchscreen display, and an all-new available 10-inch head-up display that communicates important information including ADAS functions and turn-by-turn directions. Like the EV4, the new Sportage gets a Digital Key, which allows the driver to lock/unlock/start the vehicle via compatible smart devices.

All models are winter-ready with equipment that includes all-wheel drive, an acoustic laminated and heated windshield, heated sideview mirrors, heated front seats (heated rear seats are standard on higher trims), a heated steering wheel, dual-zone automatic climate control, and an automatic defog system.

Kia has packed the Sportage with modern must-haves including over-the-air (OTA) updates (to introduce new features), wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, remote start, push-button start, wireless phone charging, Bluetooth, a HomeLink system (for opening garage doors), and Kia Connect, which links your smartphone to your vehicle to check battery levels, get route guidance, and remotely control engine start-up and cabin temperature.

All Sportage trims come with an extensive list of safety features including parking sensors; Hands-on Detection (designed to determine whether the driver is holding the steering wheel, issuing warnings when necessary); Auto Emergency Braking w/ Pedestrian, Cyclist, and Car Detection; Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Avoidance Assist; Blind-Spot Collision Avoidance Assist; Lane Follow Assist; Lane Keep Assist; Advanced Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist; a Tire Pressure Monitoring system; Trailer Stability Assist; Downhill Brake Control; Hill-Assist Control and much more.

Available safety feature include a 360-degree Surround-View Monitor with 3D view (designed to provide a bird’s-eye view of the vehicle’s surroundings); Forward Collision Avoidance Assist w/ Direct Oncoming Detection & Avoidance plus next level Highway Driving Assist 2 (helps maintain a predetermined speed and distance from the vehicle ahead, while assisting with steering wheel control when changing lanes, and when performing evasive maneuvers).

All models also come with Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go, which automatically speeds up and slows down the vehicle in order to maintain a safe distance from the vehicle ahead, regardless of the speed of the traffic. If necessary, this system can bring the Sportage to a complete stop.

Whether your fleet electrification plans include new EVs, hybrids, or PHEVs, or whether you need a capable ICE SUV, Kia has a vehicle that is sure to fit your needs.
