Volkswagen announces access to Tesla Supercharger network and availability of NACS DC adapter

Volkswagen Canada today announced that, beginning November 18th, ID.4 and ID. Buzz owners will be able to access the Tesla Supercharger network of 25,000 NACS Partner DC fast chargers across North America. To enable use of the network, customers must utilize a Volkswagen-approved NACS adapter that will allow compatible Volkswagen electric vehicles to charge using the North American Charging System (NACS) fast charger plug.

Volkswagen ID. Buzz customers can contact their selling dealer to receive their adapter. Volkswagen ID.4 owners will be able to purchase adapters through Volkswagen dealers or online from the Volkswagen Canada Virtual Parts Counter starting on November 18th.

NACS DC adapters are only for use with compatible DC fast chargers. They are not designed for use with Level 1 or Level 2 AC charging equipment, including home chargers and Tesla Destination Chargers. Owners of certain 2024 and 2025 ID.4 and ID. Buzz vehicles will receive information about a recommended software update to support optimal charging behavior.

Use of Tesla Superchargers requires cellular connectivity, compatible vehicle hardware, Tesla mobile app download and account registration, set up of payment method, and acceptance of Tesla’s Privacy Notice and Terms of Use. Tesla Supercharger location information is provided by Tesla. Volkswagen is not responsible for the accuracy of charger location, charger availability, charger compatibility, or pricing & payment options. Tesla Supercharging costs and fees will be billed by Tesla to the payment method you’ve set up in the Tesla app. The Tesla app and Tesla Superchargers are provided by Tesla and their continued compatibility and availability are outside of Volkswagen’s control.
