NHTSA Issues Recalls for International, Volvo, Mack, Isuzu, and Rivian

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued safety recall notices affecting commercial vehicles across several major manufacturers operating in North America.

Fleet operators, maintenance managers, and independent owners are advised to schedule corrective repairs through authorized dealer networks to address compliance and operational safety risks.

Recall Breakdown by Manufacturer:

  • International Motors (2027 HV, HX, LT, MV, and RH) : A retaining nut in the wiper assembly may loosen, leading to windshield wiper disconnection from the drive motor. Dealers will torque the wiper motor drive nut and mounting bolts.
  • Volvo Trucks & Mack Trucks (2027 Volvo VNL/VNR and Mack Anthem/Pioneer) : Center roof marker lights may fail to illuminate, breaching FMVSS 108 lighting compliance standards. Dealers will replace the center roof marker light assemblies free of charge.
  • Isuzu / US Truck Body (2025 Isuzu NPR HD with Waltco MDV Liftgates) : Platform deck pins may break, creating a risk of the liftgate unexpectedly dropping during cargo handling.
  • Rivian Automotive (2025-2026 R1S and R1T) : Front exterior turn signal lamps may fail to illuminate or flash due to a supplier manufacturing defect. Rivian will inspect and replace front turn signal assemblies as required.

For Canadian commercial fleet managers, safety supervisors, and dealership service departments, early verification of VINs ensures minimal vehicle downtime and maintains transport compliance standards across provincial jurisdictions.
