Ram Expands Night Edition Package to Chassis Cab Lineup
Targeting commercial fleet operators seeking enhanced brand visibility, Ram extends its factory-customized Night Edition appearance package to its 2027 Chassis Cab commercial truck lineup.
Ram Canada has introduced the Night Edition package across its 2027 Ram Chassis Cab Big Horn and Laramie trim levels. Building on demand in retail pickup segments, the commercial option replaces standard chrome trim with dark exterior elements, including black-painted wheels, body-color grille surrounds, a Sport Performance hood, dark headlight bezels, and ParkSense assist components.
Factory Customization Meets Upfitter Integration
For fleet managers, service contractors, and commercial upfitters, the Night Edition provides a bold, professional road presence straight from the showroom floor without modifying the platform’s core workhorse capabilities. Available across Ram 3500, 4500, and 5500 models in regular and crew cab configurations, the platform maintains industry-standard mounting guidelines:
- Upfitter-Friendly Architecture: Four standard cab-to-axle (CA) lengths (CA 60, CA 84, CA 108, and CA 120) with 34-inch frame rail spacing.
- Structural Frame Design: Built with up to 97 percent high-strength steel and eight cross members. Rear frame rails feature a flat-top C-channel design with zero component interference above the rails, backed by pre-drilled routing holes for auxiliary wiring and hydraulic lines.
Powertrain, Towing, and Payload Capabilities
The chassis cab lineup continues with two proven powertrains paired with a TorqueFlite HD eight-speed automatic transmission with electronic column shifting:
- 6.4-liter HEMI V8: Delivers 375 horsepower and 429 lb.-ft. of torque.
- 6.7-liter Cummins Turbo Diesel I-6: Generates 360 horsepower and 800 lb.-ft. of torque.
Worksite performance remains at the top of the segment. The Ram 5500 Cummins Turbo Diesel offers a maximum towing capacity of up to 34,540 lbs (15,667 kg), a maximum payload of 11,490 lbs (5,212 kg), and a Gross Combined Weight Rating (GCWR) of 43,000 lbs (19,504 kg). HEMI V8 configurations also deliver severe-service capability, providing up to 12,370 lbs (5,611 kg) of payload capacity on 5500 models.
Active Safety and Fleet Monitoring Systems
To assist drivers operating at maximum duty cycles, the 2027 Ram Chassis Cab features advanced driver assistance systems tailored for commercial applications. Available safety technologies include Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Collision Warning, and Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) with integrated trailer brake controls.
For tight jobsite maneuvering, the platform offers a 270-degree camera system, a Cargo-View Camera to assist with fifth-wheel and gooseneck hitching, and tire pressure monitoring capable of tracking up to 6 truck tires and 12 trailer tires simultaneously.
Order banks for the 2027 Ram Chassis Cab Night Edition open in the fourth quarter of 2026. MSRP package pricing is set at $3,595 on Big Horn models equipped with Level 1 or Level 2 equipment groups, and $3,045 on Laramie models.
